Ben McManus is a multi-instrumentalist folk musician from Wales, currently living and working as an archivist in Aberystwyth. Now primarily focusing on oldtime music, Ben has spent the last 12 years exploring oldtime, bluegrass, Welsh trad, Irish trad and blues, playing fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and double bass. While taking a year to work at the Smithsonian digitizing folk music, Ben travelled extensively throughout the Appalachian regions being introduced to the culture behind oldtime music and learning tunes. Already having released two albums, one performing in a duo with fiddle player Clara Delfina, Ben is now embarking on an ambitious third project recording oldtime music in new ways incorporating Welsh triple harp, cello and using the clawhammer-guitar technique.
